The all terrain crane is a high-performance product that combines the characteristics of both a truck crane and an off-road crane. It can not only transfer quickly and travel long distances like a car crane, but also meet the requirements of working on narrow, rugged or muddy areas, with fast driving speed, multi axle drive, all wheel steering, three steering modes, large ground clearance, and high climbing ability. It is a highly promising product. But the price is high, and there is a high demand for usage and maintenance level.
The key technologies in chassis design are the design of hydraulic and pneumatic suspension system and multi axle steering system, which are unique technologies for all terrain cranes. Below, we will discuss the oil and gas suspension system.
2. The necessary conditions for a multi axle chassis in a hydraulic and pneumatic suspension system include not only the ability to balance multiple axles, but also the ability to increase the overall roll stiffness of the vehicle, overcome brake forward tilt, adjust the frame height, and lock the suspension. The oil and gas suspension system consists of oil and gas springs and a flow distribution system. Oil gas spring uses gas as the elastic element and introduces oil as the intermediate medium between the gas and the piston; The flow distribution system utilizes the flow of oil to balance axle loads, dampen vibrations, and adjust vehicle height. The hydraulic and pneumatic suspension system has the following advantages.
3. Enhance the pressure bearing capacity. Oil and gas springs use steel cylinder accumulators as elastic components, which can withstand high pressures, usually up to 20MPa, making them small in size and lightweight. When used for heavy axle loads, their weight is more than 50% lighter than steel plate springs.
4. Improving the smoothness of driving: Oil and gas springs can obtain good elastic characteristic curves and lower natural frequencies, thus greatly improving the smoothness and comfort of car driving compared to steel plate spring suspensions, and reducing the impact force of the whole vehicle on the ground. The variable stiffness elastic characteristic curve of oil and gas suspension can prevent suspension breakdown, which is very important for off-road driving.
5. The oil and gas suspension system can effectively balance the axle load by connecting the oil and gas spring cylinders of different axles through pipelines, playing a role in balancing the axle load.
6. Increase the lateral stiffness of the entire vehicle. When the vehicle turns, due to the centrifugal force, the center of gravity shifts, resulting in a significant tilt of the entire vehicle. The oil and gas suspension system connects left and right oil and gas springs in series, which can greatly enhance the vehicle's roll stiffness. Choosing the optimal ratio of large to small cavity area for hydraulic cylinders in hydraulic suspension can achieve ideal lateral stiffness. Similarly, if the front and rear oil and gas spring cylinders are connected in series, the longitudinal stiffness of the entire machine can be improved and the phenomenon of braking nodding can be overcome.
