Mobile crane is a rotating crane that uses a tire mounted chassis to move the boom. It is a fully rotating crane that installs the lifting mechanism on a specially designed chassis composed of heavy-duty tires and axles. Its upper structure is basically the same as that of a crawler crane. In order to ensure the stability of the body during installation operations, the crane is equipped with four extendable legs.
On flat ground, there is no need to use support legs for small lifting and low-speed travel of suspended objects. It consists of two parts: getting on and getting off. The upper part is the lifting operation part, which is equipped with a boom, lifting mechanism, variable amplitude mechanism, counterweight, and turntable, etc; Getting off the car serves as a support and walking part.
The connection between getting on and getting off is made using a slewing support. When lifting, it is generally necessary to lower the support legs, increase the support surface, and level the machine body to ensure the stability of the crane.
There are two structural forms of boom: truss arm and telescopic arm. The former uses a steel wire rope pulley group for amplitude variation, and the arm length can be folded or extended, with a larger length; The latter is a multi section box shaped telescopic boom, which is extended and variable in amplitude using hydraulic cylinders. Due to its small size, the driving state is suitable for the need for rapid transfer of construction sites.
The working mechanism can be mechanical, hydraulic, or electric. Hydraulic type has the advantages of compact structure, convenient operation, easy speed regulation, and overload protection. Tire cranes are usually used for loading and unloading heavy objects and installation operations.
When the lifting capacity is small, they can operate without using supporting legs, and can even walk with a load. It has the characteristics of good mobility and convenient transfer, suitable for mobile operations, and widely used. Its basic technical parameters are: lifting weight, lifting height, amplitude, load torque, and the weight of the entire machine. The rated lifting capacity of a tire crane is limited by the strength of the boom and the stability of the entire machine, and varies with the amplitude. To prevent overloading, a torque limiter must be installed. Due to its advantages such as fast driving speed, flexible transfer, and convenient supply of automotive chassis and components, especially the telescopic boom type automotive crane, it has developed rapidly. Tire mounted cranes are further developing towards improving mobility and off-road capabilities. New types of tire cranes such as polygonal irregular section telescopic arms, box shaped radial chassis, and movable counterweights are constantly emerging.
